Web and Disk Updates

WEB UPDATE

A system to check for program/items/funds updates on the HealthBase website has been incorporated. If updates are available, they can then be downloaded and installed with just one more clicks. This should eliminate many installation problems and confusion over where to install files. Run this by selecting Web Update from the Maintenance menu.

There is also an option to automatically check for updates.This will be especially useful for clients with broadband connections. Activate this from the Web Update screen, or from the Options screen > File Management page. Once activated, Access Anaesthetics will check the website for updates each time it is launched. If updates are found, you will be give the option to download and install them. Otherwise, no message is shown.

DISK UPDATE

A similar procedure to the Web Update was created for installing updates from a disk or CD. This eliminates the need to specify the folder where updates should be installed since Access Anaesthetics can work this out. To use this feature, insert your update disk into the appropriate drive, and click Disk Update on the Maintenance menu.

CLIENT SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION

The web update function will only allow downloading of files by authorised users with current support subscriptions. While checking for updates, your subscription information will be retrieved from a secure location and displayed on the Web update form. If you have a valid subscription, the expiry date will be shown along with the time remaining and the current status of the subscription. If your subscription has expired or is about to, a note will be shown to that effect.

SECURITY

The Web and Disk update procedures use the newly added zip compression functions to unzip files automatically. The update files on the website are now all password protected and can only be unzipped from within Access Anaesthetics. This provides an additional measure of security so that unauthorized people downloading files from the website will not be able to open them.

IMPORTANT NOTE ON WHEN TO UPDATE

Note that the web and disk update functions both install the downloaded files automatically. Consequently, if you have just downloaded and installed an MBS/RVG items file or a new health fund file, you don't need to do any additional installation steps. However, this also means that you should not run the update procedures until you are ready to use the new files. (Of course, you can always revert back to earlier files if you need to as described here.)
