Windows Vista and Access 2007 Issues

Access Anaesthetics is compatible with Windows Vista and Access 2007. However, there are a few issues to note.

Vista Issues

ActiveXZip component doesn't install automatically
If you get a message every time you open Access Anaesthetics that a new component to manage zipping and unzipping has just been installed, follow this procedure to get around it. Open the Access Anaesthetics folder and double click on the file ActiveXZip.msi. This will install ActiveXZip and allow Access Anaesthetics to open normally.

Cannot open help file
Vista no longer supports 32 bit Windows help files (.hlp). These are the type installed with Access Anaesthetics. Microsoft provides a separate Winhelp download to enable Vista users to open these files. Alternatively, you can access the help file for Access Anaesthetics by clicking here. This provides the same help information, but is not context sensitive and cannot be opened using the help buttons in Access Anaesthetics. Open the file by double clicking directly on it.

Access 2007 Issues
There were many bugs in the first release of Access 2007. We have been able to work around some of these, but not all. The first service pack for Access 2007 was released in late 2007 and we recommend you update to this. For more information on Access 2007 bugs, see Alan Browne's website or the Microsoft description of bugs fixed in Service pack 1.

Batch payments form does not show distributions (Awaiting fix)
The batch payments 'List all' screen does not show the distributions of the batch payments when a payment is selected in the top list. You can view the distributions by double clicking on a batch payment to bring up the print preview window.

Close button does not work on print preview screen (Fixed in version 5.2)
The Close button on the Print Preview menu in AA does not work. Use the small x button on the right of the screen instead.

List of payments is not ordered correctly (Fixed in version 5.2)
When printing the List of Payments, the default ordering appears random, rather than in order of payment number.

Data entry screen background colour (Fixed in version 4.4)
The background colour of the Account Details screen shows through the tabbed interface, making some text difficult to read.

Premed shortcuts don't work (Fixed in version 4.4)
If there is already an item on an account, the premed shortcuts P1, P2, P3 and P4 do not insert the premed item, but rather they copy an existing item.

ASA RVG fees not updated correctly (Fixed in version 4.4)
If entering items on the green RVG tab, the total number of units may not be updated immediately on the Fee page, resulting in an incorrect fee. Clicking into the SF+ total fee box usually updates the calculation.

Several other Access 2007 issues were fixed in versions 5.52 and 5.6.

Sandbox Warning in Access 2003

When you open Access Anaesthetics, do you get this warning message?

If so, you need to install the Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 patch from the Microsoft website.

Read more about how to do this in our explanatory pdf document.

Or go to the Microsoft knowledge base article which explains this and allows you to download the relevant files.
